Kayaking at Fairfield

This weekend, I went kayaking at Fairfield Park. It is a beautiful park, with trails, pedestrian suspension bridge, and a really nice tea restaurant and patio area. I hope to visit it again someday.

I have gone kayaking maybe twice in the past, so I forget what it feels like. I don’t recall getting wet from the dripping paddles. It must be the paddles or the openness of this two person kayak.

We met up with these two mates who chose one-person kayaks.

The park is a also great site for bird watching.

Are we bird-watching, or are they human-watching?

Cocktail parrot. The first time I saw cocktail parrots in Australia, they came flying by in a flock. I was so amazed. Not just one or two captives in a zoo or observatory. A flock of free-flying birds. They can be of nuisance for locals, though, as they are known to feast on garden blooms.

Eucalyptus trees are very common here. Blue Mountain, in Sydney, is named such because the eucalyptus trees appear blue from an aerial view. This apparently happens for Blue Mountain only. One more to add to my list of to-see’s.

  1. Interesting summary of the expedition =) will definitely bring change of clothes if I’m to kayak again…

How is it possible that you’ve been kayaking only twice and that you can manoeuvre so well? I’m pretty sure I would have at least kayak twice =D

    1. I’m just talented. hahaha.. kidding. I have been doing some other paddling so those skills are transferable. I think you will make a very good Venice gondola singer.
