Onomichi, Ice Cream & Sweets

Onomichi is a small port city in the Hiroshima Prefecture. I stay here for 4 nights to explore Hiroshima and its surroundings because I couldn’t find a suitable accommodation in Hiroshima city itself.

This will be first of 3 posts on Onomichi!

Along with a magnificent view, here are some of the things I discover in Onomichi:

A statue of a poet. Many sculptures that I find in Japan are related to poets or moving stories.

Karasawa, famous for its ice cream, recommended to me by Michiko et al.
onomichi-e03
Michiko eats the ice cream in the wafer sandwich; I have my ice cream on a waffle cone (but I come back another day for the wafer sandwich… it is so much less fuss).

A few stores away, Yayake cafe sell these soy donuts.

It is yummy! Also recommended by Michiko.

This one I passed by many times and always see people sitting outside eating this milk pudding in a glass bottle. YUMMY! It costs ~¥300.
