Question: Are you normally a fan of contemporary art?
Answer:
Interestingly, it’s one of those things you have to learn to appreciate. Like swimming, one may be discouraged at first because you can’t flutter kick and float. Once you learn it, you realize control and mobility. It liberates you, opens up opportunities for you to explore the underwater world.
Contemporary art is like that. At first you don’t get it. You may think it’s stupid, useless, a waste of materials and time. Once you learn to appreciate it, you will realize that communication doesn’t have to be in the form of words and speech. Some people express better in the art form. Abstract art can make a bigger impact in our minds. It stimulates the brain and conjures emotions, memories, and the like. So, in sum, I wasn’t a fan but now, I am. In saying so, I mean it in general terms. I may prefer one artist or one artwork over another.
