Laneways and Alleys
I forgot to mention this one on my poll. I would give it a 5. It is quite the feature of Melbourne – cafés in laneways, walls of ever-changing graffiti art.
For my Top 5, see my previous post.
Here are the other attractions on my poll.
All Attractions
Free exhibit. Rotates every few months with contemporary artists. Small but features really interesting stuff but not for everyone so I gave it a 3.

Coop Shot Tower Museum
This is located in a clothing store, or the clothing store was built into this tower. Not too interesting.

Nice, but not too much going on for me here. #notagambler

Eureka SkyDeck 88
I went during the evening. It was not as impressive as the Observation tower in Gold Coast, hence the low rating.

Immigration Museum
Learned interesting facts about Australia. Social change is slow but very similar to Canada. They had a White Australian Policy that favoured European immigrants.

Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre
Saw the Food & Wine show. It was a great exhibit, but too bad I don’t drink wine.

Melbourne Old Gaol
I would recommend this one to those who like history and criminology (and people who have inquisitive children). The part where the guard treated you like a prisoner as you toured was kinda cool. The tours revolved around the story of Ned Kelly, a celebrated rebel in the history of Australia.

I saw their permanent exhibitions which were divided into European Art and Asian Art. I liked them both. Also saw the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition. Loved it.

Polly Woodside
I bought combo tickets for this along with Old Melbourne Gaol. It’s an exhibit on a restored cargo ship. There was a feature movie (maybe 10 mins) in the museum which I quite liked. There was a tour for the ship, but was tailored to children so I did not walk through with them. Good for families.

Prahan Market
Fresh groceries. Vendors were helpful.

Queen Victoria Market
Fresh groceries and souvenirs/knick knacks. A pretty large market. Did not really appeal to me as an attraction, but they do have good American jelly-filled donuts.

Queen Victoria Market (Night Markets)
Much like day time, although, there was still daylight when I went.

Royal Botanic Gardens
Free access. Especially like the cactii garden. Well-kept throughout the year.

Free exhibit. Gloomy war stuff, not my cup of tea.

St Kilda Beach
St Paul’s Cathedral
I was here twice. Once randomly and another during Christmas mass. The music is beautiful, cathedral itself is grand, but not very exciting otherwise.

State Library of Victoria
They have a Ned Kelly exhibit at the top floors (I forget which), and feature exhibits at the front sometimes. I really like the look and feel of the library. It feels like I’m in an old parliament or something. Also like the red beanie chairs out on the lawn in the summer time.

Treasury Building
Not very interesting. Some history of gold and Chinese prisoners in the basement.
My Rating: 2 Your Rating: 1 Votes: 1
Victoria Police Museum
I felt it focused a bit more on the rebels than the police force, but I suppose that goes hand in hand.

There are many other attractions around Melbourne worth visiting, notably the restaurants. It’s really hard to say what one thing I like most about Melbourne; it’s lifestyle, culture and people that really make this place unforgettable.
