Vegetarian Food in Taiwan

Taiwan Veg Food

As I end the last part of this 7-part series on Taiwan, I present to you with more Taiwanese vegetarian food!

SuFood Vegetarian Restaurant

At SuFood Vegetarian Restaurant (舒果) in Kaohsiung, they have set menus that include appetizers, entrées and desserts. Since we are a large group, you will see a variety of selections. Although I would like to, I did not eat all this myself.

Menu: Shu Guo
The menu. Pinyin pronunciation is «shuguo» in Mandarin.

Appetizer

Soup with mushroom, cabbage, mock meat.
Soup.

Entrées

Stone bowl with rice and veggies.
1: Korean bibimbap, and mock meat.
Vegetarian spaghetti noodles with assorted veggies, mock seafood.
2: Pesto Spaghetti and mock fish.
Vegetarian mock calamari and black linguini.
3: Mock seafood linguini. This is good!

Alas, it’s dessert time!

Coffee jelly and pudding.
1: Coffee jelly dessert with coffee and pudding.
Coconut jelly shaped as a bear and tapioca
2: Coconut jelly and tapioca (?)
Brownie and ice cream drizzled with raspberry syrup.
3: Brownie and ice cream.
Fruit.
4: Fruit Salad with a berry syrup. Plum juice is also included with every set meal.

I want to try everything on the menu in full, but I guess eating off my companions’ plates work too :P

And that’s all from Taiwan (Kaohsiung and Tainan). Next up, I’ll be back to Japan, and this time – Hokkaido!

  1. Impressions from mom’s Buddhist friends…. told.me that taiwanese veggie dishes are pretty amazing. I’ve yet to try. This is the only thing that makes me wanna travel abroad. Haha food! Mm
I love the tapioca dessert! It really looked like the bear was having a dip… in bubble bath!

    1. Ya.. the bear presentation was quite cool. I wish I had more time to eat in Taiwan. There seems to be a lot more than I’ve encountered.
