Kangaroo Island is an island about 2-hour drive from Adelaide. It is the third largest island in Australia, after Tasmania, and Melville Island. Yes, there are kangaroos on this island. No, I did not take photos of them. Because kangaroos are all over Australia, they are not the highlight of the Kangaroo Island tours.
The highlights:
- Australian Sea Lions
- Remarkable Rocks
- Admirals Arch
Australian Sea Lions
Fun fact: Adult sea lionesses are in gestation for about 18 months. The time between the birth of their pup and the next pregnancy is about 7-10 days. Yes, this means they are pregnant all the time.
Koala Sanctuary
Unlike the Lone Pine Sanctuary in Brisbane, this sanctuary lets the koalas roam around freely – sleep, eat, etc, without allowing tourists to cuddle and take photos, nor become part of a show and tell presentation. Kudos.
The Remarkable Rocks
No sarcasm noted: they are remarkable.
Admirals Arch
If you look closely, there are seals laying around. It is a very smelly area.
