2 Weeks Vegan

Vegan Chocolate Cake by me. So moist, so good.

“I’m going vegan for 2 weeks.”

My housemate challenged us to a 2-week vegan pledge. I am all game for it. I even said I’d continue veganism if it goes well. Why, you ask?  Because we (by ‘we’ I really mean my housemate) feels strongly about the maltreatment of animals in the process.

I didn’t research deeply into this during the 2 weeks. Hence, I’m back to being vegetarian. It was an interesting 2 weeks though. What did I eat?

Home cooked meals are easy. Eating out is the hard part. Photos: Broccoli salad, pasta, stuffed mushroom (housemate made it), zucchini fritters and noodles, red beet soup, and stir fry and noodles.

Sandwiches for lunch. Photos are duplicated for easy representation.

Easily my favourite way of eating cauliflower – baked with a dash of cumin, salt and pepper.

Soy cappucino and lentil salad.

I made granola bars thinking honey was vegan. I was wrong and had to give this away.

Eating out meant cheeseless pizza (at +39 Pizzeria).

I ate polenta fries, but not the dip.

That pretty much sums up my vegan days. I’m sure there will be more opportunities, with friends who are lactose- and egg-intolerant. Trying alternatives can be fun.

Perhaps you can challenge yourself to be vegetarian or vegan. It’s a great way to reflect on your meat / dairy consumption.
