Wilson’s Promontory

When I ask fellow hikers where in Victoria (the state*) is their favourite place to hike, “Wilson’s Prom” is one of the places that I hear the most. “Promontory”, which I have trouble pronouncing, is a high land that juts out into the sea, similar to peninsula. Wilson’s Promontory faces Tasmania and is the southernmost part of the Australian mainland.

The areas that we visit is a little more east of the southernness point. I admire the landscape and views but in comparison to Perth’s Rottnest Island, I am a tad disappointed. Perhaps I need to do the overnight 3-day hike to see the best part of Wilson’s Prom. Nonetheless, I can say I have been to Wilson’s Prom and enjoyed the company of my friends, including my housemate.

*Melbourne is the capital, also refers to the urban agglomeration (extended city), similar to how we say Vancouver, but mean the Greater Vancouver.
